The Indian Institute of Space science and Technology (IST) located at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a deemed to be the university that offers undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral programs in areas of space sciences and space technology, IIST functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India.

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences in IIST has a full-fledged academic program in Astronomy and Astrophysics, with faculty members involved in research activities across a wide spectrum of areas. The Department is organizing its Ninth Astronomy and Astrophysics School aimed at students interested in pursuing a career in astrophysics. This year the school will be held online.

The objective of the school is to acquaint students with the broad areas in astrophysics. The lectures will be on the fundamentals of astrophysics with introductions to more advanced topics.


MSc Physics - 1st or  2nd  year 

Integrated MS (Physics) - 1st or 5th Year

B.Tech (Engineering Physics) - IV year

The selected students will be intimated through email and website by 30 November. The selected candidates will have to pay a registration fee of Rs.500 for the school.
